original tudor document elizabethan period vellum manuscript dated 16th October1588. reign of elizabeth i. the house of tudor
Vellum
Indenture. Lease of all those lands, tenements, barns, woods, underwoods,
known as Chapel Downe and Chapel Marsh in the parish of Beaminster, in the
county of Dorset. George and William Pawlett to William Gibbes. Large calligraphic initial “T” (3” x 4.5”). Signed by both Pawletts, with heavy wax seals on tags. The seals are approximately 1.5” in diameter, with an impressed seal, bearing a small bird, of approximately 1” in diameter contained therein. Exceptional condition, given the age of this historic document is in excess of 415 years ..… written in the year of the Spanish Armada, the proposed invasion of England by Philip II of Spain, which was repelled by Sir Francis Drake ...... original tudor document dated 1589. reign of Elizabeth I. house of tudor Elizabethan Vellum Deed, written in Latin in the reign of Elizabeth I. Mr Powlett to Mr Gibbe of Chapel Marsh, Beaminster, Dorset, Attractive document with large decorative letter “E” ( approx. 7” x 3.5”). Tag but no seal. Light uniform browning with small holes on two folds. Overall in remarkable condition given the age of this document is some 416 years old. Size 20” x 25” ref 008 |
